What happens in a session of NLP? The practitioner and client clarify what he/she wants out of the sessions. The practitioner works according to the client’s agenda and with their agreement, removing that which has been holding them back, enabling them to gain new insights and strengthening their inner resources. The client does not need to go through details of their emotional pain. NLP is largely a talking process and the shifts in the client’s attitudes to themselves and their world happen through hearing just the right question, seeing things from a new angle, thinking differently and through their feelings, using the very powerful tool of imagination. These changes can only happen to the degree that the client really wants them to happen and, as such, cannot be undone, unless they were to want to return to how they used to be, having the difficulties they used to have. About NLP “Neuro-Linguistic Programming has grown out of the study of the mental processes of those who can do something exceptionally well or who have completely recovered from some difficulty….The field of NLP is based on the realization that we create much of our experience by the specific ways that we see, hear and feel things in our mind/body – what is usually lumped together and called ‘thinking’.” From ‘Heart of the Mind’ by Connirae Andreas and Steve Andreas. “Lengthy struggle without success is a sign that what we’re doing isn’t working. It’s time to do something else, anything else. It’s time to realize that pain, struggle, suffering and waiting are signs that it’s time for another approach….The bottom line is that NLP allows you to have the kinds of experiences you want. For years now, NLP trainers and practitioners have been teaching people how to relieve their traumas, create more positive feelings, change lifelong habits, resolve inner conflicts and build new beliefs, often in less than one hour.” From ‘NLP the new technology of achievement’ by Steve Andreas and Charles Faulkner. “The greatest revolution of our generation is the discovery that human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives.” William James, eminent American psychologist. “NLP is an ATTITUDE based on curiosity about people and an approach to others that considers each experience a rare and unprecedented opportunity to learn; it is a METHODOLOGY- a way of thinking about and studying people and the process of communication; it is a TECHNOLOOGY- a range of specific techniques that allows you to organise your perceptions and behaviour to get well-defined and ecological results.” Richard Bandler, co-founder of NLP. “NLP…the most powerful vehicle for change in existence” Psychology Today Magazine. |
